(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 22 - It is an Italian cinema "never so plural", which looks abroad, which ranges in terms of topics and languages, from first works to films for the general public.

"Forsesi produces too much, perhaps too much is produced in the world, for sure there is an extraordinary moment and Italian cinema is there", said the president of the Gianluca Farinelli Foundation at the presentation of the Rome Festival, witnessing the massive selection in the edition scheduled from 13 to 23 October.

In the renewed festival there are two Italian films chosen by the artistic director Paola Malanga for the ProgressiveCinema competition, all oriented towards research, scouting, the enhancement of talents and first works, breathing the air of the present.

In competition there are THE CURE by Francesco Patierno, set in Naples in full lockdown while in the ghostly city Francesco di Leva, Alessandro Preziosi and others re-read Lapeste by Albert Camus and THE DEAD STAY WITH THE MOUTH OPEN by Fabrizio Ferraro, the story of four partisans who flee in the midst of snow on the Apennines of central Italy, in 1944.

But then many in the other sections starting with GRAND PUBLIC where you can find the opening film IL COLIBRI 'by FrancescaArchibugi with Pierfrancesco Favino, Kasia Smutniak, BéréniceBejo, Laura Morante.
