(ANSA) - TEHRAN, 22 SEPT - The father of the young Iranian woman who died while in the custody of the moral police in Tehran, accused of wearing the veil incorrectly, accused the authorities of lying about the death of her daughter.
Amjad Amini said doctors refused to let him see Mahsa after her death: "They are lying. They are lying. Everything is a lie ... no matter how much I begged, they did not allow me to see my daughter," he told the BBC. Persia, covered by other international media.
The man also reported that when he saw his daughter's body before the funeral it was completely wrapped except for the face and feet, which were bruised. "I have no idea what they did," he said.
Iranian officials said she died after suffering a "heart attack" and falling into a coma, but her family said she had no heart problems, according to Emtedad News, an independent Iranian media.
Public skepticism about officials' accounts of his death sparked a wave of anger that spilled into violent street protests.
(Meanwhile, 11 people have died in street protests following Mahsa's death: seven demonstrators and four members of the security forces were killed according to a new official report published today.
Iranian officials denied any involvement of the security forces in the death of the demonstrators.
