An amok alarm was falsely triggered at the European School in Karlsruhe.
The cause of the false alarm was probably a technical defect, the police said.
There were about a hundred emergency services on site.
They couldn't find anything suspicious, but the school was evacuated for safety reasons.
Many of the approximately 800 students initially locked themselves in their classrooms as required, reports SWR, citing a police spokesman.
The area around the school has been cordoned off.
After the school was searched, the emergency services escorted the children outside.
A special unit, a helicopter and rescue services were also on site.
"There were no indications of a dangerous situation at any time," the police said in the afternoon.
The suspicion of the false alarm was confirmed.
Now let's find out how it came about.
