Ever since Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan left the "Windsor Company", the couple's relationship with the rest of the family has been tense.
The two attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, but what it looks like behind the scenes is known to only a few other than the royals themselves.
Nevertheless, more or less well-founded information keeps leaking out.
A book by the royal court expert Katie Nicholl will be published shortly, which is intended to provide insight.
In an excerpt that "Vanity Fair" has now published, the author reports, among other things, that Harry is said to have suggested getting outside help.
Harry and Meghan stopped by the Queen on their way to the Invictus Games in the spring.
The current king - then a prince - Charles insisted on meeting his son and his wife before the audience with Grandmother Elizabeth.
Meeting Charles and Camilla was "more uncomfortable" than their "hearty tea with the Queen," Nicholl said, citing an insider.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were delayed and Charles only had 15 minutes due to an appointment.
Father and son are said to have greeted each other warmly, but there were also "moments of tension".
"Harry walked in with hugs and the best of intentions and said he wanted to come clean," the author quotes a family friend as saying.
"He even suggested that they should use a mediator to sort things out."
Charles was "a little confused," Camilla said it was "ridiculous."
You're a family and you want to work things out among yourselves.
