A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in front of a school in England.
A 16-year-old suspect was arrested early Thursday morning, police said in the city of Huddersfield.
He is being investigated for murder.
The deadly attack on Wednesday afternoon caused a sensation across the country because many parents were picking up their children at the time.
In a statement to parents, school director Andrew Fell said it was "shocking news for our students, their children and our staff."
There are no classes at school on Thursdays.
However, it is open to those who need psychological support.
Fell also asked that "not to engage in speculation about possible causes or perpetrators and to allow the police to conduct their investigations".
Fatal knife attacks on teenagers are common in the UK, where other teenagers are the perpetrators.
Background include gang wars and drugs.
It is still unclear whether that was the case in this case.
