Nahal Arbel (Assaf Dori, Nature and Parks Authority)

Israeli autumn.

It is still too hot, but on the other hand - you can already feel the breeze here and there.

In honor of Rosh Hashanah, which brings with it an especially long weekend, we have prepared 10 recommendations for itineraries that are suitable for the whole family.

You have five vacation days to fly.

Just remember to bring plenty of water and a terrain navigation app or trail marker map, along with a detailed "road story" of each route.

Oak forest in Raam

On the edge of the northern road, hidden among attractions known from it, the forest with the most European atmosphere in the country awaits you.

Yes, even in the hot late summer days.

The forest, which covers thousands of dunams, houses another forest within it which is a nature reserve.

This is an oak forest in Raam, where hiking trails will take you to the heart of the dim thicket, far from the inferno of temperatures that are out there.

Just pay attention when planning the trip, that you do arrive at the Baram oak forest, which is only a part of the larger Baram forest.

The route starts and ends in the Rabin parking area.

The length of the route:

about 3 km (circular)

Tel Dor National Park

It is no longer new, but still - Tel Dor National Park offers a wonderful stretch of beach that many still do not know.

With all due respect to the nearby Dor Habonim Reserve, Tel Dor boasts a wealth of scenery concentrated on a relatively small area, making it a classic for a family trip.

It has hidden and picturesque coves, ancient remains of an ancient port city, observation points that show the sea in a new perspective and other surprises.

Route length:

about 2 km (circular).

Nahal Katia - Nesher Park

The kind of route that children won't forget in the near future - not because of the typical landscape, which characterizes considerable parts of the Carmel region, but mainly thanks to the two bridges hanging over the grooved bed of Nahal Katia.

Here, in Nesher Park, the children will not agree to get off the bridges, each of which is about 70 meters long.

It is recommended to "enlarge" and take the full route that is marked in the area, which includes the stream channel and passes through the shady grove.

A night in Nahal Havarim

A trip at night is fundamentally different from a trip during the day.

Not only because it's dark, but thanks to the intimate atmosphere it creates.

One of the classic desert itineraries is a full moonlit walk in Nahal Hvarim, near the Sde Boker seminary.

Here, the bright marl rocks reflect the moonlight powerfully, making the use of a flashlight almost unnecessary.

The route goes down a photogenic canyon and reaches the depths of the Tzin Valley.

The route is linear and requires a jumping vehicle, but you can also walk it until you get tired and return the same way.

In the month of September, the moon will shine at its peak on 9-12.

You should be equipped with a navigation app or a trail marking map and study the route well in advance.

The length of the route:

about 3.5 km (linear).

Arbel Nature Reserve

The Harbel Cliff is included in this list because, in addition to the easy observation route, it also offers a more challenging route (Cave Fortress), for children from the age of 7 who like to walk.

Come - and decide when you see the route.

We have a feeling that even if you are interested in a trip to Easy, you will not be able to refuse the slightly challenging route.

The light and short version will bring you to great vantage points towards the Sea of Galilee down there, as well as the regions of the Galilee and the Golan.

On the other hand, the challenging route will really immerse you in the landscape, while descending and climbing using pegs.

Great fun.

The length of the route:

about 2 km. The entrance is paid (22 NIS for an adult, 9 NIS for a child).

Mount Barkan in Gilboa

Several peaks inhabit what we call by the collective name "The Gilboa".

One of them answers to the name "Mount Barkan", and it is true that it is most beautiful here in winter and spring, but also as an autumn trip, it has its charm, thanks to the spectacular view, which includes the Jezreel Valley, the Carmel, the Beit Shean Valley, the Gilead Mountains and everything in between.

The Barkan peak is at an altitude of 497 meters above sea level, and the route itself is marked in red.

In the past, a KKL-Junk observation tower was placed there, which is no longer present, but the view is beautiful even without it. It is also highly recommended to combine a trip by car on the "Derech Nof Gilboa", and find an excellent corner for a picnic next to it.

The length of the route:

about 2.5 km.

Today the observation tower is no longer there, but the view is still beautiful.

Mount Bental and the Odem forest in the Golan

Fall isn't quite here yet, which means a sightseeing hike would suit the weather now, especially if you're with small children.

Bental Mountain in the Golan, which rises to a height of 1,165 meters above sea level, offers panoramic views towards neighboring Syria, old military communication channels, beautiful metal sculptures and more.

Do you really want to extract bones?

Continue to the ruby forest, and go on the easy circular route "The Great Juba".

The length of the route:

a few hundred meters from the parking lot (Bental), about 2 km (the large Juba).

Lower Banias

You can treat it as a last water trip before the coming of winter: in the lower part of Nahal Hermon (Banias) a short and shallow water course awaits you.

But remember that this is not a regulated bathing site, so keep a close eye on the children.

The beginning of the route in the area of Sde Nehemiah and its end next to Gesher Yosef.

Please note: in the middle of the route there is a waterfall that is not high but dangerous to cross.

It is recommended to get out of the water, walk parallel to the stream and return to it after the waterfall.

The length of the route:

about 1.5 km (linear). You must walk with the direction of the flow and not against it.

Einat Telam National Park

Lazy in a good way?

This is your place.

Einat Telam National Park, in the heart of the Emek Arazim that borders Jerusalem, offers you a captivating combination of nature together with entertainment for all ages.

This is a playground where elements from nature, such as rocks, mounds and more, create a multitude of possibilities - from stone slabs for backgammon and cleaner to a maze and jumping spaces.

It is recommended to take a nap next to the old stone building on the site or even climb slightly up Nahal Halilim, and find a hiding place in the beautiful Halilim Cave.

Track length:

several hundred meters.

Addition to Merat Halilim: about a kilometer in each direction.

Nahal Kadesh

We promised easy trips, but we couldn't resist and included in the holiday recommendations also this great route, which is indeed challenging, but the experiences it offers are worth everything.

A significant part of the route is shaded, so you are set in the matter of the beginning of autumn.

The challenge here comes in the form of climbing rock falls, sometimes done with iron pegs.

The kids will feel like mountain climbers, and you'll be busy watching over them and taking pictures of them at the same time.

So keep in mind that the track level is medium plus.

The route descends steeply into the depth of the stream, and there the dim undergrowth will protect you from the sun until the end of the trip.

The length of the route:

about 3 km (wired, but the starting and ending points are relatively close, so you can send a driver on duty).

By Wise:

Yesha Citadel.

The starting point is at Citadel Yesa (Citadel 28) next to road 899. The ending point is next to the "Nahal Kadesh" sign, south of Kibbutz Yifatah (road 886). You can park near Kibbutz Yifatah. You can also do the route in the opposite direction.

Although challenging, the experiences it offers are worth it all.
