Pico, a subsidiary of ByteDance company that owns TikTok, launches the new virtual reality viewer.
It is called Pico 4 and will be available in Italy, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and eight other European countries from 18 October.
The viewer has a latest generation Qualcomm Xr2 processor, an Adreno 650 graphics card and 8 gb of ram, to be used independently, without being connected to an external computer.
The manufacturer claims that the battery, which is located in the rear strap so as not to weigh on the user's head, offers around three hours of use on a single charge.
The direct competitor of Pico 4 is Meta Quest 2, Meta's current top-of-the-range viewer that will soon be replaced, at least for the innovations it will be equipped with, by Project Cambria,
Meanwhile, Pico points out that he can already offer something that will be seen on Cambria.
This is the pass-throught functionality, which allows the wearer to switch from viewing the three-dimensional environments to that of the surrounding real world, without taking it off.
This is thanks to the high quality video camera system that, similar to what happens on a smartphone, shoot and transmit images on the internal screen.
Games and apps can be downloaded via the Pico Store, with fitness-focused content.
In this regard, in 2023 the company will launch the Pico Fitness band, to monitor the movements of the lower body.
