The public prosecutor's office in Stuttgart has brought charges against a hotel operator for allegedly killing a guest.
The 47-year-old suspect had previously removed more than 100,000 euros from a safe, the public prosecutor said.
When the owner of the money found out about him, he killed him.
According to the indictment, the hotel manager hit his victim with a kettlebell in the underground car park on Easter Sunday and then choked the man.
Then the accused hid the body together with an assistant in a forest near Esslingen.
She was discovered there the following day, which set police investigations in motion.
Charges: murder and embezzlement
The suspect was arrested three and a half weeks later.
According to the information available at the time, the victim had withdrawn and lived in the hotel for a long time without social contacts.
The 47-year-old is in custody on charges of murder and embezzlement.
The district court of Stuttgart must now decide whether to open the main proceedings.
