In Ukraine "war crimes have been committed".
This was established by UN investigators, who have also documented a wide range of
crimes against minors
, including cases of children "raped, tortured and illegally confined", the head of the Commission of Inquiry Erik Mose told the Council of human rights in Geneva.
"In the cases we investigated,
the age of victims of sexual and gender-based violence ranges from 4 to 82.
There have been incidents in which relatives have been forced to witness crimes" committed on their loved ones, he added. pointing out that in several cases it was established that the perpetrators were Russian soldiers.
"Based on the evidence gathered by the Commission of Inquiry, it concluded that war crimes were committed in Ukraine," said Commission President Erik Mose, in a first
report to the UN Human Rights Council, recalling Russian bombing of civilian areas, numerous executions, torture and sexual violence.
The Commission of Inquiry was set up in May to investigate war crimes committed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began last February.
