(ANSA) - GENEVA, SEPTEMBER 23 - UN investigators in Ukraine have documented a wide range of crimes against minors, including cases of children "raped, tortured and illegally confined", the head of the Commission of Inquiry Erik Mose told the Council of human rights in Geneva.
"In the cases we investigated, the age of victims of sexual and gender-based violence ranges from 4 to 82 years. There have been episodes in which relatives have been forced to witness crimes" committed on their loved ones, he added, specifying that in several cases it was established that the perpetrators were Russian soldiers.
"Based on the evidence gathered by the Commission of Inquiry, it concluded that war crimes were committed in Ukraine," Mose said in a first report to the Council, citing Russian bombing of civilian areas, numerous executions, torture and sexual violence.
The Commission of Inquiry was set up in May to investigate war crimes committed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February.
