Louise Fletcher, who will forever be remembered as the actress who played Nurse Ratched in the movie "The Cuckoo's Nest", passed away yesterday (Friday) at the age of 88, at her home in the south of France, surrounded by her family members.
Fletcher was an unknown actress who was raising her two children pretty much alone when she was chosen to play Nurse Ratched in Miloš Furman's 1975 film, based on the book of the same name by American author Ken Keese.

Later in her speech, Fletcher moved viewers and the audience when she addressed her deaf parents in American Sign Language, thanking them live for teaching her to dream.
