(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 24 - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 24 counties for the arrival of Hurricane Ian, the ninth tropical storm since the beginning of the season.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the hurricane is currently about 440 kilometers southeast of Jamaica and is staging westward.
If it hits Florida, it will be the first to hit the state since 2018. (ANSA).
