On the 6th day of our Oktoberfest week, all Bavarians have to be strong
Yes, we know that this recipe gives all Leberkäse fans goosebumps, BUT if you haven't tasted it, you haven't tasted it.
And what can't taste of a breaded sausage specialty with cheese and ham filling 🤷🏼 ♀️?
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
Leberkäse Cordon Bleu:
4 thick slices of meat loaf
4 slices of cooked ham
4 slices of Emmental cheese
flour
2 eggs, whisked
breadcrumbs
oil for frying
In addition:
potato salad
Sweet mustard
And this is how easy it is to prepare:
For the cordon bleu:
Carefully cut a pocket into each meat loaf slice.
Fill the meat loaf with ham and Emmental.
Dip the cordon bleu first in flour, then in the beaten egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.
Heat enough oil in a pan and fry the meat loaf cordon bleu until golden brown on all sides.
Serve with potato salad and sweet mustard.
Relish!
You can do more with meat loaf than just put it in a bread roll!

Oktoberfest Fun Fact No. 6: Eat, Drink, Eat - Repeat
Tender chicken isn't rocket science.

At the largest folk festival, not only is a lot of beer drunk, but at least as much is eaten (creating a basis and such).
There are Bavarian classics, warm and cold.
Incidentally, you can eat almost anywhere at the Oktoberfest, but only drink beer in the tents.
The food here is always a bit more expensive than in the food stalls, but who cares?
The measure price covers everything anyway.
The most popular dishes include:
Hendl
(half a chicken)
Haxn
(pork knuckle)
Obazda
(a spread with soft cheese) with
Brezn
(pretzels)
Roast ox or ox scraps rolls
meatloaf
cheese spaetzle
Steckerlfisch (grilled mackerel or trout on a skewer and grilled over an open fire)
white sausage
Dampf-Rohrnudel with honey crust (steamed yeast dumplings) and Kaiserschmarrn
Roasted almonds and gingerbread hearts
Every year, the Oktoberfest sets
new records
in the production and sale of food.
Up to 510,000 chickens, 80,000 knuckles of pork, 80 calves and around 125 oxen are eaten by around 6 million visitors over the 3 weeks.
And last but not least something positive: even a folk festival steeped in tradition cannot resist the trend towards a more conscious and also
vegan diet
.
In recent years, more and more festival tents and food stalls have also offered plant-based dishes such as vegan patties or vegan mushroom goulash.
