Jenny Berry, a British blogger and disability rights activist, had to drag herself along the aisle of the plane after the flight crew refused to help her get to the bathroom.

Berry travels a lot, and she often shares Tik Tok and Instagram videos of her experiences in everyday situations, as someone who is paralyzed from the waist down.

In her new video, which quickly went viral on the internet and received more than five million views on TikTok, she is seen in a difficult situation, and even says that one of the flight attendants told her that she should wear a diaper instead of using the bathroom.

The incident happened when Berry went on vacation with her partner and other family members, on a flight operated by the Spanish airline Alba Star.

One of the flight attendants told her she had to wear a diaper.

Things are starting to deteriorate

At first everything went well, and Brie was brought onto the plane using a special chair that is adapted to the narrow aisle on the plane.

But from this point on, things started to deteriorate.

Berry says that initially, the airline refused to seat her in the area at the front of the plane and near the bathroom, even though those seats were available.

After that, she was told that the plane (Boeing 737 model) is not equipped with a wheelchair, in case she needs to use the bathroom.

According to her, after being offered to use a diaper, she continued to ask for assistance in getting to the bathroom, but the staff ignored her.

One of her family members took a picture of her dragging herself on the floor towards the front of the plane.

In the video, she is seen moving slowly with the help of the seats on both sides of the aisle.

In the background, you can see the staff members as they continue to sell snacks from the cart, without any reference from their side.

According to the European Union regulations, which have been in force since 2006, airlines are obliged by law to provide assistance in transferring people with disabilities to services if necessary.

Many airlines have wheelchairs permanently stored on the plane to assist in such situations.

In addition, the airlines are obliged to make what is defined as "all reasonable efforts" to provide seats that meet the needs of the disabled person.

In this case, a seat closer to the toilet may have met this requirement, although it is not required by law.

The airline: "Wheelchairs in the aisle are not mandatory equipment"

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Spanish airline, he said that the airline wants to "express its sincere apology for the recent incident on one of our flights".

According to him, "Our main concern is the safety and comfort of all our passengers, on each and every flight we operate. We are working to investigate the incident to ensure that this isolated incident is not repeated on any of our aircraft."

The spokesman denied that there was anyone in the air crew who recommended the passenger to wear a diaper and noted that wheelchairs in the aisle are not mandatory or "even recommended" equipment in airlines.

Berry herself said that she hopes the airline industry will soon make changes to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities.
