Toaster: There are good reasons not to shake it out

Over time, tons of crumbs collect in the toaster.

However, there are reasons not to shake out the toaster.

Many people start the morning with a piece of crusty toast.

When the butter melts and combines with the jam, it's a great start to the day.

But the more often the toaster is used, the more crumbs and leftover bread accumulate inside the appliance.

Simply turning the device over and shaking it out is not a good idea.

Because this can lead to serious problems.

Nothing easier than that, you might think, to clean a toaster.

Just turn over and shake out the crumbs.

But not only can you damage the device, it can also lead to a short circuit when you use it again, which can have far greater consequences.

But there are gentler ways to get the crumbs out of a toaster.

Before you start cleaning, you should consider the following steps:

• Unplug the toaster

• Let the toaster cool down completely

• Do not use any pointed objects, such as forks or knives, for cleaning

Before cleaning the toaster of crumbs, unplug the toaster as described above.

Burnt-on leftovers and crumbs can be carefully and gently removed with a pastry brush without damaging the sensitive heating wires.

When cleaning, you should avoid water and detergents.

If you take a closer look at your toaster, you will see a crumb tray, often well hidden.

This can be easily pulled out or folded out.

In this way, the leftover food and crumbs can be easily removed.

Then rinse the crumb tray with water and some detergent.

Do not put it back into the device until it is completely dry.

Clean the outside of the toaster

After removing the crumbs from the inside, the toaster should also be cleaned from the outside.

The housing of most devices is made of stainless steel or plastic.

Dust can be easily removed with a microfiber cloth.

The quickest way to clean a toaster with a plastic housing is to use a damp cloth.

Greasy spots can be removed with a simple washing-up liquid.

For devices with a stainless steel surface, mix a few drops of vinegar into the cleaning water.

After a gentle cleaning of the toaster, you can look forward to a delicious breakfast.
