The leader of the French ecological party, Julien Bayou, resigned from his duties this morning after allegations of psychological violence against his former partner, against which he felt he could not defend himself.
"I announced this morning to the members of Europe Ecologie les Verts (EELV) my resignation from the functions of national secretary", explained Bayou in a statement, specifying that he will also leave the presidency of the group in the Assemblée Nationale.
The decision came after allegations of moral harassment by a former partner, in circumstances that have not been sufficiently disclosed.
There is no complaint against Bayou, nor any investigation.
The case comes after the one that hit the radical left party La France Insoumise of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, whose right arm Adrien Quatennens was forced to resign as coordinator.
Quatennens had admitted slapping his wife in an argument.
