(ANSA) - PARIS, SEPTEMBER 26 - The leader of the French ecological party, Julien Bayou, resigned from his duties this morning after allegations of psychological violence against his ex-partner, against which he felt he could not defend himself.
"I announced this morning to the members of EuropeEcologie les Verts (EELV) my resignation from the functions of national secretary", explained Bayou in a statement, specifying that he will also leave the presidency of the group inAssemblée Nationale.
The decision came after allegations of moral harassment by a former partner, in circumstances that have not been sufficiently disclosed.
There is no complaint against Bayou, nor any investigation.
The case comes after the radical left party La France Insoumise led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, whose right hand Adrien Quatennens was forced to resign as coordinator.
Quatennens had admitted to slapping his wife in an argument.
