At Munich Airport, federal police officers saved a critically ill person from taking off and thus from a possible emergency in the air.
As the federal police announced on Monday, the 46-year-old US citizen was probably on vacation with his wife in Bavaria when he had to go to the emergency room of a Munich clinic on Friday.
He was able to leave again shortly after the examination.
Border control already passed
A little later, however, the doctors realized that the man had sustained a life-threatening internal injury that could lead to death if not treated immediately.
According to the information, the patient's contact details were not available.
All that was known was that the man apparently wanted to fly back to the USA with his wife the following day.
The clinic staff then informed the Munich police, who informed their federal police colleagues at the airport.
They found that the suspect was booked on a morning flight to Washington and had already cleared border control.
However, the officials were still able to find the 46-year-old at the departure gate.
At this point, boarding for the flight was already imminent.
The man was then taken to a clinic near the airport by rescue workers who were alerted, where he was treated.
