A 17-year-old German schoolboy was bitten by a cheetah at a Dutch zoo.
The teenager was slightly injured, said the Safari Park Beekse Bergen of the news agency ANP.
According to the report, the teenager visited the safari park near Tilburg in the south of the country with two classmates on Monday – and left the pedestrian path despite warnings.
The students got into the enclosure of the predators.
A cheetah bit the youth in the arm and head.
After outpatient treatment in the hospital, he was released.
The two friends were not injured, it said.
Animal keeper saves students
A spokesman for the safari park said the students walked along a path reserved for visitors with cars.
The three ignored warning signs on the side of the road.
When they realized that they had landed in the predator's enclosure, they ran away in a panic.
Nevertheless, one of the big cats was able to attack one of the students.
Visitors in a car reportedly called for help.
An animal keeper finally brought the students to safety.
According to the zoo, it is now checking all security measures.
