In the collision between a truck and a train, several travelers and the train driver were injured on the island of Usedom.
As a spokesman for the federal police said, the accident happened early in the morning at a level crossing on federal highway 111 between Koserow and Kölpinsee.
There were said to be about 15 passengers on the train.
According to initial findings, the driver of the food truck wanted to cross the level crossing with the half barrier closed, as the police in Neubrandenburg announced.
It is being investigated on suspicion of dangerous intervention in rail traffic.
Despite braking, the Bäderbahn rammed the truck in the rear third.
The railcar jumped off the tracks.
The truck was lying on its side after the accident, as a photo showed.
In addition to several train passengers, the driver of the truck was also injured, it said.
He is said to have suffered a shock.
According to the information, the police, rescue service and around 60 firefighters were on duty.
The railway line on the island and the B111 - the main connection in the island section - remain closed for several hours for the rescue.
