First successful flight for Alice, the 100% electric plane from the Israeli start-up Eviation Aircraft.
One of the most advanced zero-emission aircraft in the world could be on the market by 2027, if it obtains all the certifications.
The plane took off from the runway at Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Wash., taking off at 7:10 a.m. local time.
The plane then flew for 8 minutes, reaching an altitude of 3,500 feet (1,066 meters), said Gregory Davis, president and CEO of Eviation.
“The plane was a wonderful experience for everyone present.
We were able to witness a historic event in the making,” said Gregory Davis.
A Paris - Toulouse flight without CO2 emissions
This new generation aircraft can carry nine passengers.
It is propelled by two electric motors allowing it to provide regional links, without carbon emissions.
It will thus be able to fly over a distance of up to 740 kilometres, i.e. a Paris - Toulouse flight (680 km).
With a top speed of 463 km/h.
The transport company DHL Express has already ordered 12 copies of the freight transport version of Alice.
