Hospitalizations are also increasing, with intensive decreases and deaths. The new government: 'We need clear recommendations on the pandemic'. The fourth dose does not take off, only 17% covered (ANSA)

Covid infections increase by 34% in a week and ordinary hospitalizations also return to rise, marking a + 4.5%.

Intensive care (-14.7%) and deaths (-8.1%) are down.

This was revealed by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the week 21-27 September.

"After the modest increase recorded last week - says Nino Cartabellotta, Gimbe president - we are witnessing a leap in new weekly cases that from just under 108 thousand to almost 161 thousand, with a 7-day moving average of almost 23 thousand per day".

The increase concerns all the Regions, from + 5.9% in Sicily to + 50.9% in Veneto.

'Clear recommendations are needed to combat the pandemic'.

This is the call addressed to the future executive by the Gimbe Foundation which, in its independent monitoring, underlines how the center-right program is 'acceptable, but the structural adjustments require substantial investments and times that are not compatible with a possible new wave'.

It is urgent - says Gimbe - to protect the elderly and frail with the fourth dose and to use masks responsibly indoors in crowded and / or poorly ventilated places'.

(HANDLE).

The national coverage rate for the fourth doses of the anti-Covid vaccine does not take off, settling at 17% compared to 16.6% of the previous week, with clear regional differences: from 7.7% in Sicily to 28.3% in Emilia Romagna.

This was revealed by the monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the week 21-27 September.

The number of people who are candidates to receive the second booster (fourth dose) is over 19.1 million people: of these, 14 million can receive it immediately, almost 1.9 million are not immediately eligible as they are less cured. 120 days and almost 3.2 million have already received it.

As of September 28, 3,257,289 fourth doses were administered, with a moving average of 12,096 doses per day, up from 10,284 last week (+ 17.6%).
