The branch of the Revolutionary Youth Union in As-Suwayda organized today the fourth national competition for free reading (reading marathon) at the governorate level, for the youth category over 18 years old.
The competition, hosted by the Youth Branch headquarters, included probing the books read by the participants, the way they interacted and expressed them, the impact they had on them, and the extent of the cognitive benefit achieved from them.
The Secretary of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in As-Suwayda, Firas Raad, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the competition comes within the organization’s work plan to encourage self-education among the young generation, motivate them to return to the book, and highlight the spirit of challenge and competition among them.
Hanin Al-Kuntar, Head of the Preparation, Culture and Information Office of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in Sweida, stated that the participants were nominated for the competition from all youth associations, who have knowledge and love for reading and reading books, indicating that the winners of the first and second places in it participate at the national level for the next stage.
The head of the competition’s jury, Hosni Al-Arbeed, the Arabic language instructor in Sweida, stated that the competition focused on a group of masterpieces, the most important of which are the number of books the participant read, their quality and general understanding, in order to achieve their goals to motivate the young reader to read more, which is food for the soul and thought.
Participation in the competition, Raghad Al-Shaar, a student at the College of Human Medicine, indicated the importance of the competition for her to gain new knowledge and information, or correct wrong information and meet new friends of similar inclinations.
The young Madeleine Azzam pointed out that she is participating in the competition as an important experience for her after reading about 262 novels during the last period, with the aim of developing her ideas, enhancing her self-confidence, strengthening her personality and exchanging experiences.
