Billionaire MacKenzie Scott, 52, one of the richest women in the world, is divorcing again after less than two years of marriage.
This is reported, among other things, by the »New York Times«.
Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
He is one of the richest men in the world.
In 2019, the two separated after 25 years of marriage.
Almost two years later, Scott had made it public that she had remarried - a teacher at her children's school, Dan Jewett.
This marriage is now over.
The New York Times has the documents with which Scott filed for divorce.
She wants to donate "until the safe is empty"
After the divorce from Jeff Bezos, Scott received four percent of Amazon shares, which were valued at around $38 billion at the time.
In the meantime she was considered the richest woman in the world.
She also became famous for announcing after the divorce that she wanted to donate her billion-dollar fortune "until the safe is empty."
She joined the “The Giving Pledge” initiative, as the organization announced at the time.
The signatories undertake to donate at least half of their assets to charitable purposes during their lifetime or in their will.
According to the New York Times, Scott has donated a total of $12 billion to charity in just three years.
The couple volunteered together, with charities regularly thanking both Scott and Jewett.
As the "New York Times" reports, the last recipients of donations would only have thanked Scott, so the joint commitment will probably end with the end of the marriage.
Away from her public involvement, Scott is reticent — she's never spoken out to the media about her donations or other parts of her life.
According to the New York Times, she had always turned down interview requests from the US media.
