Production of White Chocolate Pistachio Crunch Snowflakes at the Nestlé factory (PR)

You will have to believe us when we say that this is not an easy job, not easy at all.

To try all the new products that come out to the Israeli market (and sometimes outside of it as well), to taste in front of everyone, deliveries and more deliveries, paper bags that accumulate in the office (and at home), a never-ending feeling of satiety.

Seriously, it's harder than it looks, and no one is paying you to go to the gym, or compensating you for the FOMO that quickly develops in your mind.

For all the articles in the "New on the Shelf"

section, however, the "New on the Shelf" section, about its tasters, curious and loyal consumers, has started again.

And this time - a delicious refrigerator surprise, a delicious canning surprise and a delicious oven surprise.

Yes, we are very eclectic.

enjoy your meal!

Prepared food, Adam and Eve deli

An intriguing culinary collaboration brings together the excellent Naomi Deli with Chef Hillel Tavkoli ("Animar"), to form "Adam and Farm", a new chain of stores that will offer ready-to-go food.

The first branch, in the commercial center at the foot of the Borochov Towers in Givatayim, is designed to be inviting and spacious, and upon entering you are greeted by a row of refrigerators with packed boxes, freezers that require a little more domestic work, and also a showcase from which you can choose and consider.

Except for that showcase food, things will also be available on the parent network.

The menu includes, for now, more than twenty options, including fish and meat dishes, meatballs and fresh salads (NIS 14-25 for 250 grams), sauces and spreads, as well as required peripheral food such as alcohol and special juices, cakes and ice cream.

Here you can find, among other things, seasoned confit hummus, beetroot and lime salad in caramel ras al Khana, chirshi and carrot salad with choma pepper and pickled lemon, sofrito beef meatballs (NIS 55 for 600 grams), Gondi chicken meatballs in Persian lemon marmalade (NIS 65 for about 600 grams) which were delicate and excellent, chicken in curry (NIS 77 for about 700 grams) which was aromatic but not aggressive, and also salmon in an oyster sauce glaze (NIS 83 for 550 grams) which provided a necessary kick to a dish that usually does not enjoy heating additional.

The side dishes (NIS 9.5-15 per 100 grams) include, among other things, small potatoes with rosemary and honey, black-and-white wild rice with mint and sunflower seeds, Persian rice with carrots and black beans, as well as a successful Majedra Freki, which managed to maintain flavors and attendance.

Along with these, the freezers offer baked goods to prepare at home such as crispy Turkish bureks, and also quite a few perfections on the way to a picnic, on the way to closing the necessary corner of the dinner, or just in any way you take.

In three words: the future begins in Givatayim.

Canned salmon and lentil flour snacks, Willipod

The large food importer is expanding shelves with canned Atlantic salmon, and with lentil flour snacks.

Let's start with salmon: the series from Latvia includes six canned alternatives to the current price frenzy, all weighing 129 grams and NIS 10.90.

Here you will find salmon in canola oil, smoked salmon in canola oil, salmon in canola oil and lemon, salmon in canola oil and chili, salmon in teriyaki sauce and salmon in tomato sauce.

In general, the preserves were very tasty and certainly achieved their purpose as an alternative or as a kitchen shortcut, whether as an addition to an elaborate brunch (the smoked salmon), whether as a base for a harima (salmon in tomatoes) or just like that, as a fork-dance, straight from the box.

The snacks, which come from Lithuania in 80 gram bags, boast of protein richness, brand themselves as a "high source of dietary fiber" and wink at vegetarians and vegans as well.

The series currently includes a cheddar flavored snack, a jalapeno-lime flavored snack, and a sour cream and onion flavored snack - all crunchy enough to make us smile, and distinct enough in flavor to make us want to eliminate.

In two words: the heavens opened.

Pretzel, Brunch & Crunch

The "American Quality Products" company is expanding its "Brunch & Crunch" series with frozen pretzels, ready to be heated.

The paratzel, which comes in a quart pack (280 grams per unit, NIS 17.90 per pack), does not contain preservatives or food coloring, and is ready for immediate preparation - from the freezer directly to the oven heated to 180 degrees.

No more than five minutes later, you receive in your hand a delicious pastry, sweet on the edges, classic to pair with runny egg, or just like that, as a happy carbohydrate to-go.

In one word: Americana.

Tofu Schnitzel, Weiler Farm

The veteran tofu manufacturer is launching a frozen schnitzel series in four flavors - chicken, spicy, with broccoli and with corn.

This is what our vegan assistant had to say about it: it's

always fun to see a small factory that keeps developing with new products.

We have already written before about the excellent tofu of the Weiler farm (and also about its hummus tofu), which was previously known only to devout vegans, who looked for and found uncompromising quality in the products that came from Moshav Tal Shahar in a small and niche market.

After already appearing in supermarket freezers with its excellent meatball series, the company is now trying to enter the field of schnitzels.

But unlike the meatballs, which have become a favorite among vegan children, the schnitzels enter a fairly saturated market.

We won't go into a comparison between a corn schnitzel of a certain old brand and Weiler's - but the difference is noticeable.

The main ingredient in schnitzel is ground tofu, but it is the toppings (corn and broccoli) that add a kind of processed and unattractive aftertaste.

As a product that should be kept in the fridge in case of an emergency when there is no real food at home, it will do the job, certainly in homes with children, but if the Weiler farm wants to fight the big factories, they will have to come up with a more attractive product.

In four words: a little more, and that's it.

Upland snacks, Strauss

Torr, the food-tech company of the Israeli food giant The Kitchen, is launching a new series of snacks, which combines energy and technology.

The series, Upland, includes three "Pressed" snacks without added sugar (and no honey-silan and their friends), in a process designed to emphasize the original flavors of the ingredients.

The launch includes, for now, three flavors - strawberry-pecan, apple-cinnamon and also mango-banana-orange - all of which provide a bite with relatively elegant sweetness, and a slightly more "authentic" feeling, which does not come at the expense of taste.

In one word: high-tech.

Organic pasta from spelled flour, grains

The successful food importer lands in Israel a new Italian series of organic spelled flour pasta.

The series includes, for now, spaghetti, fusilli and penne (NIS 11.90 for 500 grams), which quickly went into a bubbling pot and from there into a sauce-sizzling pan, as well as into a large salad bowl, which tasted more neutral.

Either way, the result was good, "pastay" enough for the flour to leave no question marks, and with a tasty bite.

In three words: what is good for the Italians.
