A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a nine-year-old Liverpool girl.
The police are now saying this after the suspect was arrested on Thursday.
The girl's death at the end of August had caused horror in Great Britain.
The child was apparently accidentally killed on August 22 when his mother opened the door to check on the cause of the noise in the street.
A 35-year-old man then forced his way into the house to save himself from his armed pursuers.
The pursuer fired through the half-open door, wounding the 46-year-old mother of the nine-year-old on the wrist and fatally hitting the girl in the chest.
The 35-year-old suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The man is a convicted burglar.
He was due to go to jail after his hospitalization for violating his terms of imprisonment.
Background apparently gang war
According to initial findings, the background to the fact is probably a gang war in the Liverpool underworld.
The shooter is said to be a member of a criminal gang.
'This crime is heinous,' Jenny Sims of Merseyside Police had said.
No parent should "ever have to suffer the loss of a child under these terrible circumstances."
