A manufacturer of cinnamon stars started a recall because of the risk of mold growth.
Consumption of the pastry can have health consequences.
Gütersloh - For many consumers, Christmas is still unthinkable.
For impatient customers, there are already the first Christmas classics in the supermarkets and discounters.
Aldi was still selling the first gingerbread and Santa Clauses in midsummer.
But a manufacturer of cinnamon stars has now started a recall for his product: There is a risk of mold.
Danger of mold: Kiebitzhof recalls cinnamon stars because of residual moisture
The Kiebitzhof brand is recalling its cinnamon stars.
As the company announced, increased residual moisture was found in a random sample.
Therefore, there is a possibility that mold will form during storage.
Affected are the cinnamon stars in the 150g pack with the batch number 2343. The best before date of the product in question is February 28th, 2023.
Other items are not affected.
"All necessary measures have already been taken to avoid such an incident in the future," the company writes in a statement.
Buyers are asked to return the item.
"The purchase price will of course be refunded to you," it continues.
The manufacturer apologizes for the incident.

Zimtstern recall: Consumption has severe health consequences
The recall affects the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
The brand strongly advises against eating the cinnamon stars.
The mold itself is not dangerous, but the metabolites it contains are.
The consumption of mold can therefore have serious health consequences and produce symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea or diarrhea.
The toxins in mold spores can even be carcinogenic.
There was also a risk of mold lurking in a Rewe product: an organic applesauce had to be taken off the shelves because of "possible spoilage".
A Germany-wide cheese recall made headlines: seven cheese products had to be taken back because of metallic foreign bodies.
The products were sold at Aldi Süd, Lidl and Edeka, among others.
