She died in her home in Rome, which she loved so much, surrounded by her family, the writer Rosetta Loy, she was 91 years old.
She was born in Rome on May 15, 1931, she made her debut in 1974 with 'The bicycle'.
She won the Viareggio Prize and the Campiello Prize in 1988 with 'The roads of dust'. She was a refined and intense writer, in 2017 she was awarded the Campiello Career Prize.
She communicates it to ANSA about her daughter, Margherita Loy.
The death occurred last night at 8.30 pm due to cardiocirculatory arrest and breathing difficulties.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday 4 October at 10.30 in the Church of Grottarossa Santa Maria Immacolata.
She will be buried in Piedmont in the cemetery of Mirabello Monferrato, the town where 'The streets of Dust' is set and where there is still the house of Rosetta Provera Loy's father, who was from Piedmont.
Her latest book is 'Cesare', published by Einaudi like most of her works.
