Thousands of people gathered at 3 p.m. this Sunday, Place de la République in Paris to support women

“Woman, life, freedom” proclaimed thousands of people gathered at Place de la République in Paris this Sunday.

This crowd had come to demonstrate in support of the protest movement in Iran sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini arrested by the morality police.

Left-wing personalities also participated in this rally, in particular the deputy for the 9th district of Paris, Sandrine Rousseau.

At his side, the first secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, or even Manon Aubry, MEP LFI.

Sandrine Rousseau spoke at the microphone but once on the stage to deliver her speech, the elected official was booed copiously by the crowd.

Among the demonstrators, some reproached her for her adherence to the "communitarian" visions of the Islamists, others accusing her "of being for the wearing of the veil in France, and that she had nothing to do there".

The member for EELV defended herself at our microphone.

“I am extremely intransigent vis-à-vis Islamism here in France and I have no problem saying so.

What I stand for is the freedom of women everywhere.

I was also extremely applauded.

Women's freedom is never consensual, anywhere, and in any movement.

But I will defend her no matter what,” she commented after falling victim to the laughter of the crowd.
