Things get emotional when “ichó” pitches for “Die Höhle der Löwen”: With their therapy ball, the founders want to improve the lives of people with dementia.

Every three seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with dementia.

It is an insidious and painful disease that progressively degrades the brain.

So far it has not been considered curable.

This process can be an immense challenge for those affected and their families.

Steffen Preuss (33), Mario Kascholke (32), Alkje Stuhlmann (39) and Eleftherios Efthimiadis (35) know that too.

The founders developed a special therapy ball for people with dementia, which they will present on Monday (October 3) on the Vox show "Die Höhle der Löwen" - with prominent support.

Your emotional pitch moves even the lions to tears.

The founders from Duisburg got prominent support for their presentation with TV dog trainer Martin Rütter (51).

His mother suffers from dementia.

"About ten years ago, my mother suffered from dementia quite severely," he explains to Vox and continues: "This disease not only affects the patient, who changes in phases, but above all something with the relatives.

It's been hard for us as a family to see how much mum has changed from being in the role we used to know mum in."

The TV star and the founders met while filming a documentary about his mother.

He is enthusiastic about the innovative product.

"A real game changer that has become an incredibly important tool for us as a family and especially for many people with dementia," says Rütter.

Even if the disease cannot be cured, several studies show that the disease process can be slowed down.

You can also stabilize certain skills.

This is exactly where “ichó” can help.

"The Lion's Den": "ichó" will be presented on Monday, October 3rd from 8.15 p.m. on Vox

Because the therapy ball combines different methods in a playful way.

There are five sensors inside the therapy ball for this purpose.

This is how the ball recognizes what is being done to it.

For example, he can be shaken, thrown, caught and petted.

Programmed with over 100 therapy games, "ichó" reacts with sound, light, color or vibration.

In this way, cognitive performance and fine motor skills are promoted at the same time.

The founders want to offer the lions 15 percent of their company shares for 1.5 million euros.

After all, their goal is to improve the lives of over ten million people with dementia in the next few years.
