(ANSAmed) - SOFIA, OCTOBER 03 - In Bulgaria, after the counting of 99.03% of the ballots, the conservative party Gerb is confirmed in the lead with 25.43% of the votes, whose leader Boyko Borissov ruled the country for almost ten years in the past.

Yesterday's vote recorded a very low turnout, below 40%.

The liberal party 'Let's continue the change' (Pp) of Kiril Petkov, the former premier who left last June after staying for a few months at the helm of a disheartened coalition in parliament, obtained 20.21% of the votes, finishing in second place.

Third is the party of the Turkish DPS minority with 13.56%.

This is followed by the nationalist party Vazrazhdane (Renaissance) with 10.17% of the votes, and the Socialist BSP party which obtains 9.34%.

The right-wing party 'Democratic Bulgaria' (7.45%) and the newly formed party 'Balgarski vazkod' ('Bulgarian revival', Bv) with 4.65% of the votes also overranolo a 4% barrier to enter parliament.

The leader of BV is General Stefan Yanev, educated at the National Defense University in Washington and former military attaché at the Bulgarian embassy in the US.

In 2021 he was premier of two interim governments appointed by President RumenRadev (general of military aviation).

He briefly served as defense minister of Kiril Petkov's government in 2022.

'Bulgarian revival' defines itself as a national-conservative party.

On the other hand, the populist party 'There is a people like this' (3.84%) of the television showman Slavi Trifonov, who in the past had been the protagonist of an electoral exploit, falls below the threshold of 4%.

The electoral commission did not provide an official figure on voter turnout, which was very low and minimal for Bulgaria, remaining below 40%.

According to the Bulgarian constitution, the central electoral commission should formalize the final results of the anticipated laws within a week and announce the personal composition of the unicameral parliament which has 240 seats.

Within one month after the elections, the president of the republic should convene the first session of the new parliament, starting the new 48th Bulgarian legislation.
