Dead at 104, "Marie-Lou", the oldest bistro, never lacked repartee

She had become famous on her centenary birthday behind the counter. Since then, she continued to open her café in Isberg

Every day around 11 a.m., Marie-Louise Wirth, owner of a café in Isbergues (Pas-de-Calais), treated herself to a small glass of port or rosé at aperitif time in front of the house motto displayed in a wooden frame: "If you drink, you will die, if you don't drink, you will die, then drink."

The funny Ch'ti will never allow herself a pick-me-up again, except in paradise.

"Marie-Lou" just passed away on Friday September 30, a few weeks before her 105th birthday.
