A decision which should be formalized this Monday afternoon.
His replacement will be Alexandre Kara, former editor of France Télévisions and currently deputy director of programs for the audiovisual company.
Laurent Guimier joined France Télévisions in June 2020, first as director of France Info, the public group's continuous news channel.
He was then appointed news boss in September 2020, at the age of 49, succeeding Yannick Letranchant.
Before arriving, the journalist had in the past directed Europe 1 for a season, after a more successful stint at the head of France Info radio.
Weakened by a motion of no confidence last June, Laurent Guimier had nevertheless been kept in his post at the end of a hectic presidential season for France Télévisions.
Since July, he was charged by Delphine Ernotte, the boss of the group, to pilot the Tempo reform, supposed to lead to the abolition of the national JTs of France 3 in favor of 24 super regional editions.
A project disputed internally, which had led to a day of strike on September 12th.
During his short tenure as head of news for France Télévisions, Laurent Guimier notably worked on the modernization of public service magazines, including "Complément d'Enquête", now presented by Tristan Waleckx.
In a recent interview with Le Parisien, he also detailed the arrival next January of a new international magazine, “Border Line” entrusted to Djamel Mazi.
On this occasion, Laurent Guimier did not close the door to a possible candidacy for the presidency of Radio France, whose mandate will soon be reallocated by Arcom (ex-CSA).
