News 12 is afraid to say: when Arabs buy Jewish land, it's a problem Israel today

2022-10-03T10:01:19.456Z

Anyone who watched the article about the Arabs buying land from Jews in the north, could have thought that the problem is that they are not farmers • The PC prevents us from talking about even the basic values - that Zionism is Jewish ownership of the Land of Israel

There is no Israeli who does not know by heart Ben Gurion's proclamation on the establishment of the state.

"In the land of agriculture, the agricultural nation arose, in which its image of plowing, sowing and reaping was shaped... and by virtue of our natural and historical right... we hereby declare the establishment of a state of farmers in the land of agriculture, it is the state of agriculture."

It is impossible not to be moved when you read these words.

We finally got home.

to the ground

News 12 aired yesterday a very important article by Yossi Mizrahi (the details of which were previously published by Yair Kraus in the first source), about a growing phenomenon of Arab real estate dealers purchasing land from farmers living in the north - mainly in the area of Kfar Tabor and Rosh Pina and in the surrounding kibbutzim and moshavites - Divide them into smaller plots and sell them to Arabs. These lands, which are now passing into new hands, were mostly bought by the land redeemers at the beginning of Zionism 120 years ago, among others by Baron Rothschild, in order to establish the Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel.

"The interest is not agricultural-economic".

Indeed an important article, but when watching it it is difficult to understand - what is actually the problem with this step.

Or, in fact, the problem did surface and rise: those buyers do not use the land for its original purpose, i.e. for agriculture.

What are they doing in it?

In the first step, they define their plot.

Then they don't do much with it. Some leave it as it is without any use, while others turn it into a kind of yard, but far from the house - a kind of private place for spending time in nature. As Emil, an 80-year-old resident of Nazareth and owner of one of the plots, said in the article : "I'm having a picnic here.

Comes with my wife, lights coals, drinks a glass of desert.

Sitting, having fun, going home."

And so, for 12 minutes, both Mizrahi himself and almost all the interviewees in the article, walk around, not willing to tell the truth.

The two heads of the council who appeared in the article - the head of the Lower Galil Regional Council and the head of the Kfar Tabor council - talk about the problem that the buyers use the land to hold parties or large meals on the spot, and do not use it for its original use - the one that includes plowing, sowing, planting and harvesting.

Yes, the problem with the phenomenon, it can be understood, is that a plot of land that was intended to be agricultural became just a yard.

One tzaddik in Sodom appeared in Mizrahi's article - the farmer Jordan Riklin from Moshav Ilanya - who said in front of the cameras what everyone thinks but is afraid to say in the politically correct culture: "Their interest (the buyers) is not agricultural-economic... I think it is a kind of national interest . to put a stake 'we are here'".

Not engaged in agriculture.

If everything here is just real estate, and if everything is actually subject to economic consideration only, what is the problem with a farmer from Kfar Tabor, who is tired of his work, selling his land for the highest price, even if his name happens to be Muhammad or Emil? Is it only because Emil does not intend to work as well He is in agriculture, should the landowners lose the money? And if that Emil or any other Arab buyer takes the land and plants olives or cotton on it, will that satisfy the heads of the councils?

Let's go back to the beginning.

Yossi Mizrahi's article is important.

without cynicism.

Nor do I have an ounce of doubt in the Zionism of the two heads of councils.

But it's time we stopped being afraid to talk about the elephant in the room.

Yes, it is allowed to talk about the Jews of the Galilee, it is allowed to talk about the fact that we want the lands of the Land of Israel to be owned by Jews.

Not because the Jews will use the land for agriculture, but because the essence of Zionism is that the Land of Israel will be in the hands of the people of Israel.

Agriculture, by the way, can be done anywhere else on the globe.
