Eight years after the first revelations, "Team Wallraff" is once again sending undercover reporters to Burger King.

The results are again appalling.

Kassel – Many Germans have already had their experience with long chicken or chilli cheese nuggets.

Regular visitors to the fast-food chain Burger King are now familiar with the term "plant-based".

Even the big chains, which have always been a symbol of unhealthy nutrition and environmentally unfriendly packaging, have adapted to the ravages of time.

But what about behind the scenes?

What do the people behind the counter who make the vegan burgers, fries and drinks ready to eat see?

The undercover reporters from "Team Walraff" documented this a few years ago - with frightening results.

The revelations meant the temporary end for 89 branches in Germany.

That was 2014.

"Team Wallraff" reveals desolate conditions in Burger King branches on RTL

That was almost eight years ago.

Time enough to visit Burger King again, the TV broadcaster

RTL

thought and sent the reporters to the branches again with a hidden camera.

When it was broadcast on Thursday evening (September 29th), it quickly became clear: Apparently not much has changed.

After confronting the results of the research, Burger King closed five branches it visited.

"After we heard about your allegations, we - together with our franchise partners - acted immediately and took appropriate measures.

We immediately closed the designated restaurants," the statement said.

Three branches are already open again, the other two are still undergoing a makeover, as

stern.de

writes.

The "Team Wallraff" recently uncovered abuses in old people's and nursing homes.

Including a retirement home in northern Hesse.

"Team Wallraff" on RTL: mouse droppings and rotten food at Burger King

The list of unworthy conditions at Burger King is long.

Among other things, rotten food, mayonnaise made with eggs and sold as vegan, broken cold chains, maggots and mouse droppings on the floor.

“The mother of all mice was called Freddy.

And all children: Freddys.

All that was missing was the Burger King uniforms and then they could have started," said a former employee at

RTL

who, like many other former employees, could not contribute much to the good feeling when thinking about the next visit.

Nationwide warning day: All mobile phones will soon ring at the same time

The fact that some employees report to the undercover reporters from "Team Wallraff" that they work up to 60 hours of overtime a month fits into the desolate picture that Burger King once again paints.

The group takes the allegations seriously, said Burger King.

As proof that they really want to do better this time, the fast-food giant wants to set up a whistleblower hotline where employees and customers can report grievances anonymously.

Let's just hope that someone on the other end of the line actually picks up the phone and isn't busy with mice.
