The Germans are very concerned about the high inflation and the increased energy prices before the winter.
With a view to Christmas, many want to limit themselves this year.
Munich – We are facing a difficult winter including Corona and the energy crisis.
In September, inflation even rose to over 10.0 percent for the first time in over 70 years, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office on the basis of preliminary data.
Added to this are the rising gas and electricity prices.
Although the federal government has meanwhile decided on a gas price cap, how much the citizens will have to pay for their energy in the end is still in the stars.
That's why many Germans want to save for Christmas this year and not spend so much money or use so much energy.
Survey: Energy Crisis - Here the Germans want to save for Christmas
An INSA survey commissioned by
Bild
now shows exactly what people want to save on.
According to the survey, 48 percent want to save on gifts.
Surprising: 15 percent would give nothing at Christmas anyway, inflation or not.
30 percent, according to the
picture
mostly high earners, want to stay with their usual budget.
The remaining 7 percent are undecided.
But electricity prices could have a greater impact this year than gifts, which is why 40 percent of those surveyed want to reduce their Christmas lights.
Of these, two-thirds want to omit the fairy lights this year.
A third even go so far as to do without lighting the Christmas tree.
Inflation and the energy crisis: Very few people want to go without Christmas dinner
According to the survey, very few Germans want to save on Christmas dinner.
For 56 percent, this is simply part of the celebration and should remain as lavish as ever.
As the

writes, there is at best a willingness to do without expensive drinks.
