The body of a woman who was probably killed was found in Prien am Chiemsee in Upper Bavaria.
A passer-by saw the body on Monday afternoon in the Prien and called the police, officials said on Tuesday in Rosenheim.
The woman apparently died violently.
In the afternoon, a large number of police were looking for traces in the area around Aschau im Chiemgau in the Rosenheim district.
More than 100 police officers were on duty.
Service dogs were also reportedly involved.

Forensic medicine identified the dead woman as a 23-year-old from Aschau im Chiemgau.
During the investigation, clear traces were found that indicated external violence and proved a homicide, the police said.
According to initial investigations, the young woman had visited a music club in Aschau on Sunday evening.
She left him early in the morning.
Further investigations are to clarify what happened next.
A special commission was set up at the Rosenheim Criminal Police Inspectorate.
She asked for witnesses.
