The British band Coldplay has canceled eight concerts in the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo because singer Chris Martin, 45, was ill.
"Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been ordered by the doctor to rest completely for the next three weeks," the band said in a statement.
"We are optimistic that Chris will recover following the prescribed medical break and look forward to resuming touring as soon as possible."
For the upcoming concerts in October, new dates in 2023 should be sought.
Coldplay performed at Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro in September.
The band's concert was voted one of the best of the festival by visitors to the Brazilian news portal »G1«.
Coldplay initially did not cancel their ten planned concerts in Buenos Aires between the end of October and the beginning of November as the conclusion of the world tour for the album »Music of the Spheres«.
Should the ten concerts take place in a row at the River Plate football club's stadium in Argentina's capital, Coldplay would break the record set by Roger Waters, who performed there nine times with The Wall in 2012.
