The prices at Rewe, Edeka and Co. as well as at discounters such as Aldi and Lidl are skyrocketing.
Many factors interact and make groceries more expensive.
Due to the Ukraine war and its effects, energy has become expensive in this country, and the procurement of the products costs more.
In addition, personnel costs have also increased.
All this means that in many supermarkets some shelves are completely empty.
A consumer expert knows which products are particularly affected.

, consumer expert Ron Perduss provides an explanation for the empty shelves.
Two parties face each other: manufacturers and dealers.
"On the one hand, the manufacturers want to push through higher prices for their brands due to the increased production costs," says the expert, "on the other hand, the retailers, i.e. supermarkets and discounters, of course want to stick to their price level and their customers the expensive ones Don't expect the prices to be reasonable.” This clinch means that many shelves simply remain empty.

This demanded a price increase of 20 percent, but the store manager is reluctant to do so and leaves the shelves with Whiskas cat food - which is sold by Mars GmbH - empty.

Supermarket own brands are good alternatives
"We're trying to get the manufacturer to the negotiating table and get the best prices accordingly," says the Edeka manager.
As long as these negotiations are ongoing, the shelves will remain empty for supermarket customers.
Consumer expert Perduss knows that in addition to cat food, dairy products, beverages such as soft drinks or juices, sweets and some finished products are also particularly affected by the special situation.
The expert therefore advises consumers to switch to the own brands of Edeka, Lidl, Aldi and Co.
These are available, cheaper and of very good quality.
