Istat: tax pressure rises, household purchasing power falls

In the second quarter of 2022, the tax burden was 42.4%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year. Istat highlights this in its quarterly note on the accounts of P. (ANSA)


ANSA Lavoro - ROME, OCTOBER 05 - In the second quarter of 2022, the tax burden was 42.4%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year.


   This was highlighted by Istat in its quarterly note on the PA accounts, underlining that "The purchasing power of households recorded a slight decline despite the negative impact of the increase in prices. The household savings rate decreased by 2.3 points. percentages, however, still standing at higher levels than in the pre-pandemic period ".

Total revenues in the second quarter of 2022 increased on a trend basis by 8.5% and their incidence on GDP was 48.4%, up by 0.6 percentage points compared to the corresponding period of 2021. In the first half of the year, the incidence of total revenues on GDP was 45.7%, an increase of 0.9 percentage points compared to the corresponding period of 2021.
