The Witcher: Great news for fans - 5 new games planned

The "The Witcher" universe will expand massively in the next few years.

Development studio CD Projekt RED announces five new games.

While fans are still waiting for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, CD Projekt RED has very different news about the Witcher saga.

The Polish developer studio has given a preview of the titles it will be working on in the coming years.

In addition to a whole new "The Witcher" trilogy, two more titles from the witcher universe are planned.

New "The Witcher" games: What is known so far

CD Projekt talked about the projects in a nearly 15-minute video.

However, they do not give many details about the “The Witcher” games.

Pre-production has already begun for two titles.

Here is an overview of the new The Witcher games and what is known about them so far.

• "The Witcher - Codename Polaris"

  Pre-production has started.

  "Polaris" is intended to continue the open world storytelling known from "The Witcher 3".

  It marks the first part of a new trilogy.

  All three titles will be released over a period of six years from the release of the first game.

• "The Witcher - Codename Sirius"

  The pre-production has already started here.

  The studio The Molasses Flood is responsible for the development, which is supported by some developers from CD Projekt RED.

  "Sirius" is said to be different from previous "The Witcher" games as it aims to appeal to a wider audience.

  It is said to include a multiplayer mode.

• "The Witcher - Codename Canis Majoris"

  This is supposed to be another "full" game.

  It is being developed by an external studio led by veteran developers who have been involved in the production of previous The Witcher games.

Another "Cyberpunk" game and brand new game franchise announced

In addition to the many "The Witcher" projects, CD Projekt RED has also announced a new "Cyberpunk" game.

As is well known, the release of the first title was a disaster due to performance problems and bugs - which caused the studio's reputation to suffer badly.

However, the Netflix series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" has sparked interest among players again and "Cyberpunk 2077" currently has very high player counts on Steam - and in 2023 there is a big expansion with "Phantom Liberty".

Additionally, CD Projekt RED has announced a brand new franchise with the project name Hadar.

However, the development is still in a very early phase, so the release is probably a few years in the future.
