Considering that the annual consumption of methane in this segment of the tertiary sector amounts to approximately 4.5 billion cubic meters, the councils provide rules for a conscious use of energy and savings that are added to the approximately 6.76 billion cubic meters. of gas achievable in the domestic sector.
For offices, for example, it is advisable to prefer the stairs to the lift, use low consumption light bulbs, install intelligent control systems (it is estimated an energy saving for heating between 7% and 20% and for cooling between 2% and 4%), favor cloud solutions, lower the temperature in winter (reduces heating consumption by more than 12%) and raise it in summer (an average of 22% of the energy required for the cooling), close doors and windows, activate energy saving functions, optimize the use of printers, carry out regular maintenance.
For shops, the Decalogue suggests turning off the sign during the night (to save 3,000 kWh per year and over 1 ton of Co2), use low consumption light bulbs, install intelligent control systems, close doors, control devices with air curtain, in winter lower the temperature, raise it in summer, unplug the sockets during closing hours, use solar screens or films and carry out regular maintenance.
