At least 17 people were killed when a pick-up truck crashed into a ravine in eastern Guatemala.
According to the police, 13 other people were injured in the accident on Wednesday when the vehicle, which was carrying numerous passengers, fell down a deep precipice near the rural town of Jocotán.
According to media reports, the people had set out to collect aid from the United Nations World Food Program in the district town of Chiquimula.
The accident apparently happened after the driver got out of the vehicle to fix a mechanical problem.
The truck rolled and fell into the ravine.
Most of the dead were women.
A five-year-old child was also killed in the accident, and a total of three minors are said to be among the victims.
