Actress Hilary Swank becomes a mother for the first time at 48.
Swank announced the twin pregnancy with a post on Instagram.
In a video, she points to her slightly rounded stomach and wrote: "Coming soon: in a double pack".
The actress also spoke about her happiness on the television show Good Morning America.
"I'm going to be a mother," Swank said on the show.
"And not just one, but two [children]," the 48-year-old continues.
For a "long time" she had wished to be able to share this happiness with the world.
She was sure that it had already been discussed on the set.
Until recently, Swank had filmed scenes for a series.
'You haven't told me about it for twelve weeks, and with good reason.
But then your belly grows and you go to the bathroom a lot and you eat a lot,” Swank said.
"There was a moment last week when my pants didn't fit anymore and I had to cut them open and wear a jacket over them to hide it."
"I've never been pregnant before, but now I have a much better understanding of what women have been going through for so long, the nausea, the exhaustion, especially in the first trimester," Swank said.
Now she hopes that the pregnancy will continue to go well.
However, the 48-year-old did not reveal the expected date of birth of the twins.
