Iranian Marjane Satrapi will preside over the jury of the Festa Roma competition

Iranian director and cartoonist Marjane Satrapi will chair the jury of the Progressive Cinema Competition, the new competitive section of the Rome Film Fest. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 06 - The Iranian director and cartoonist Marjane Satrapi will chair the jury of the ProgressiveCinema Competition, the new competitive section of the Rome Film Fest.

This was announced by the artistic director Paola Malanga, in agreement with Gian Luca Farinelli, President of the Cinema Foundation for Rome, and Francesca Via, general director.

Author of the acclaimed animated film Persepolis, nominated for an Oscar, and of works such as Chicken with Plums, La bandedes Jotas, The Voices and Radioactive, all presented at major international festivals, Marjane Satrapi, who has lived in Paris since the beginning of October is participating in the insolidarity protests with Iranian women.

Satrapi will be joined by actor and director Louis Garrel, directors Juho Kuosmanen and Pietro Marcello and producer Gabrielle Tana.

The jury will award the following awards to the films of the Progressive Cinema Competition: Best Film, Grand Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, "Monica Vitti" Award for Best Actress, "Vittorio Gassman" Award for Best Actor and the Special Jury Prize, chosen by you. among the categories photography, editing and original soundtrack.

The Film Festival will also host the "Ugo Tognazzi" Award to the Migliorcommedia which will be awarded by a jury chaired by the cinematographer Carlo Verdone and composed by the actress Marisa Paredes and the author and actress Teresa Mannino.

The winning work will be chosen from among the titles scheduled in the Competition Progressive Cinema and Freestyle sections.

Best Director, Best Screenplay, "Monica Vitti" Award for Best Actress, "Vittorio Gassman" Award for Best Actor and the Special Jury Award, chosen from the photography, editing and original soundtrack categories.
