1. How to ripen a banana in the microwave
Prick the banana peel all over with a fork.
This is necessary because vapors will soon form in the fruit, which could otherwise cause them to explode.
The air can escape harmlessly through the holes.
Now place the prepared bananas in the
microwave
and heat for 30 seconds to a minute.
But
beware
: once the banana is ready, you must first let it cool down before using it further.
2. How to ripen a banana in the oven
A little longer, but just as good, goes in the oven.
Here you have to place the prepared banana on a baking sheet that you have lined with baking paper.
Cook the banana at about
150 degrees in a convection oven
.
The skin will gradually turn dark and the banana will ripen at the same time.
When the fruit is ready, it is rather soft, so it is
best suited for banana bread, pancakes
or the like.
3. How to ripen a banana in a paper bag
If you are not in a hurry, you can let the bananas ripen without heating.
To do this, you simply have to place them in a
paper bag
.
The fruit gives off the ripening
gas ethylene
.
The gas is prevented from escaping in the bag and under the influence of the increased concentration, the banana ripens faster than it would in the fruit bowl.
