Of course, not every type of pumpkin can be cooked whole in the microwave.
But if you have chosen the right variety, you save a lot of time and energy compared to conventional preparation in the oven.
There are no limits to creativity for the filling.
However, cheese is particularly suitable because it cannot be surpassed in terms of simplicity.

In the meantime, so-called microwave pumpkins with the designations Surprise, Buttercream, Puccini or Lil-Pump-Ke-Mon are available in the supermarket, which are specially bred for preparation in the microwave and whose seeds can also be purchased in stores.
These pumpkins are usually striped yellow or green, weigh 200 to 300 grams and cook within five minutes.
If you can't find one or grow pumpkins in your own garden, you can also choose small specimens of a squash, for example nutmeg squash.

2. Place a whole camembert or other round cheese of your choice in the cavity and sprinkle with additional herbs or spices if you like.
3. Microwave the squash for about 5-10 minutes at 800 watts until the squash is soft and the cheese is melted.
