The time for raclette is here: you can feast for hours in good company.

But how are the grill plate and pans cleaned again later?

A round of raclette has already become a tradition in many families and circles of friends.

Eating and chatting can be combined here for hours - but the grill plates and pans get quite greasy and crusty from cheese & co.

Then a general cleaning is announced again.

But beware: Not every raclette is cleaned in the same way.

Depending on whether it is a model with a natural grill stone plate or a Teflon-coated grill plate, the raclette must also be treated differently.

We have tips for you that will make your raclette shine again in no time.

You must take this into account when cleaning the raclette

  • Before you start cleaning the raclette, you should always make sure that the plates are no longer hot.

So always wait until they cool down

    .

Only then should you clean the grill plates.

  • Be sure to

keep sharp objects away from the grill plates

    .

Otherwise you will scratch them or even remove an important coating.

  • You can remove a large part of the dirt

    before cleaning

by gently running over it with the wooden spatula, which is actually there to empty the pans.

  • The raclette should definitely be cleaned immediately after use

: If you heat up the device again with dirt residues, you have to expect that these will burn into the device.

In the worst case, it can no longer be used.

Cleaning the raclette: How to clean a natural grill stone plate

With natural grill stone slabs you have to be careful: because natural stone has pores that can become saturated with water.

Therefore, the

natural stone grill plate of a raclette should never end up in the dishwasher

or be soaked too much.

If the grill plate is heated again later, the water in the pores expands and damages the plate.

Instead, simply wipe the natural stone

with soapy water and a sponge

.

To do this, you should first remove the plate from the device.

In addition, don't be surprised if your natural stone grill plate develops a

colored patina

at some point .

This is natural and should therefore not be treated with aggressive cleaners - it can simply be left as it is.

In general, you should

keep sharp cleaning agents and sharp objects away from the natural grill stone

.

Incrustations should be relatively easy to remove with the rinsing water.

Then dry the grill plate well.

Teflon-coated grill plate: These tips will help you clean the raclette

Grill plates with a Teflon coating or non-stick coating can be cleaned

with washing-up liquid and a little water, just

like natural grill stone plates

.

However , if the dirt is coarser or burnt in , you should first scrape it

off with a wooden spatula

.

In addition,

most models can also be put in the dishwasher

- but first check this in the operating instructions.

The grill plate can be soaked in water for a few minutes beforehand.

In general,

however, you should keep rough objects such as the underside of a dish sponge or steel wool away from Teflon-coated pans

.

Before cleaning, remove the plate from the device.

As soon as you have cleaned the grill plate, you should wipe it down with kitchen paper or a dry cloth.

This will prevent limescale deposits forming on the surface later on.

However, whether and how quickly this happens depends on the lime content in the water in your region.

Raclette: Can I clean the grill plates with baking soda?

Instead, stick with a regular dish soap solution.

How do I clean the raclette heating coil?

Some cheese addicts like to overdo it with raclette and stack the treats in towers - so that they just fit under the grill plate.

Unfortunately, the food then presses against the heating coil and soils it with fat and leftovers.

But how do you clean these spots again?

At first glance, this appears to be extremely complicated, after all you must

never bring water near the heating coil

.

Even all grill plates with a power supply must not come into contact with water or a dishwasher.

Therefore, first unplug the device and let it cool down.

Then a so-called

degreaser

spray is used: Spray it onto the burnt-in areas on the heating coil and leave it to work for about half an hour.

After that, the dirt is soaked so far that it can easily be wiped off with a soft sponge.

If it doesn't work the first time, just try again.
