How to choose the size of your ski mask?
For your ski mask to be comfortable, pleasant to wear and above all useful, it is essential to choose the right size.
We explain how to find your way around and interpret the indications given by the manufacturers.
They relate to the width of the face.
Indeed, a ski mask must perfectly fit the curves of the latter, otherwise it will let the sun or the air pass through, which will be very unpleasant.
There are generally 3 sizes:
Size S: for thin faces, where the distance between the 2 temples is between 125 and 129 mm;
Size M: for medium faces, where the distance between the 2 temples is between 130 and 134 mm;
Size L: for larger faces, where the distance between the 2 temples is between 135 and 145 mm.
So take the time to measure the distance between your two temples to know which size to turn to.
A mask that is too large may not fit well, and it will not necessarily be compatible with wearing a helmet;
while a mask that is too tight will be very uncomfortable and bother you.
How to wear a ski mask?
Now let's move on to wearing your ski goggles.
Man or woman, it's the same thing, the foam part must be completely in contact with your skin.
If there is a gap, it means that the chosen mask is not your size, or not adapted to the shape of your face.
Do you wear goggles and want or need to keep them on when skiing?
Good news, there are models of ski goggles suitable for wearers of glasses.
You have to spot the models with the mention “OTG” which means “Over The Glasses”.
This will ensure good visibility and maximum comfort.
If you are used to skiing with a helmet, which is a good reflex for good protection in the event of a fall or collision, you need to know how to position your ski goggles.
We always put it on the outside of the helmet.
Why ?
Because the rubber band could end up rubbing the scalp and causing pain.
Same with the ears.
You will also notice that most ski helmets are equipped with a retaining strap at the back intended to hold the mask in place and prevent it from moving or falling.
How to remove scratches from a ski goggle?
By dint of using it, your ski goggles can get dirty or scratched.
It should then be thoroughly cleaned to assess the extent of the damage.
To avoid adding scratches, use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, such as a microfiber cloth.
Gently rub the inside and outside of the ski mask.
Once the scratches have been identified, you can apply an anti-scratch product.
The latter will be used to fill in said scratches and so that they no longer bother you when you are on the slopes.
Be careful, once the surface of your ski goggles is scratched, you must repeat this operation approximately every week.
It will therefore certainly be necessary to replace your ski goggles at the end of the season.
