The new iPhone 14 has the exclusive car crash detection feature.

As it turns out, even loopings on a roller coaster ride in amusement parks accidentally trigger the function.

Cincinnati ‒

Apple Crash Detection

is actually well-intentioned and especially helpful in tricky situations.

Such as in the case of serious traffic and car accidents.

This function is integrated in the latest Apple model, the iPhone 14. The crash detection automatically dials the emergency number as soon as the sensors detect that an accident has happened and the user does not turn off the alarm himself within 20 seconds.

So much for modern technology.

Because surprisingly, roller coaster rides in theme parks and amusement parks also trigger Apple Crash Detection.

As the Wall Street Journal

reporter Joanna Stern

reports in a tweet, several Apple devices have sounded the alarm while the owners of the iPhone 14 have fun on a roller coaster at Kings Island Park in Cincinnati.

Muffled screams can be heard in the tweet as the roller coaster's occupants race from one loop to the next.

iPhone 14 triggers major alarm: Six operations in amusement parks

According to Stern, Warren County, where Kings Island is located, has received six emergency calls triggered by park driving since the iPhone 14 was released in September this year.

The calls always called the police and the fire brigade.

Stern also points out that other users have experienced similar issues at amusement parks across the country,

The Verge

reports .

According to

WinFuture.de

, Apple advertises that it has carried out crash tests in the laboratory, evaluated public accident data and analyzed a million hours of real driving data in order to optimize the new accident detection and rule out errors.

A roller coaster was apparently not taken into account.

The technical problem is apparently being worked on in the meantime.

Apple says that a software update for compatible devices will be released in the coming weeks to prevent crash detection from being triggered incorrectly when riding a roller coaster, writes the tech portal

Accident detection Activate or deactivate crash detection

The Accident Detection option is enabled by default.

Users can turn off notifications and automatic emergency calls from Apple after major car accidents by going to Settings > Emergency SOS and turning off Call After Major Accident.

If third-party apps are used to detect accidents on the device, they will continue to receive information.

Meanwhile, iPhone 14 users are advised to turn on Airplane mode or turn off the device entirely.

At least as long as they're on a roller coaster.
